Returning to Hanoi — Preparing a Collection for the First A.D.Deertz Shop
In 2010 I had just signed a lease on a small space on Torstrasse in Berlin Mitte — not entirely planned, but the opportunity was there and I took it. The shop needed a collection. Fast.

I had fabric stock in Bangkok from two years of working there, but my production had fallen through. So I put the fabric on a truck through Cambodia and into Vietnam, and went back to Hanoi. I stayed with my friend Thao — designer of Kilomet109, someone I had worked with a lot before and who is family. |
Túan, the tailor, impresses me in many ways — he is so sharp, and judging from his productivity it seems his day has 27 hours instead of 24. In a few weeks he took care of the entire production. It was not the most organised way to open a store. But the collection was ready, the shop opened.
