The incredible story of a shirt that travelled without adress label
The incredible story of a shirt that travelled to my friends studio without adress label - i wish it could tell the stories of its last 17 years
I just got a message from Saint Louis, Senegal. Tandeem — tailor, designer, long-time friend, has been in Berlin to collaborate with me 3 times — he needed vintage shirts for a project. There are vendors pushing handcarts with used clothes through the old town and Tandeem checked his goods but only a few shirts . The vendor said he had just bought a whole bale of shirts — Tandem should come to the market
and take a look. He sent his assistant instead. The assistant calls: „Hey Tandeem — there’s an A.D.Deertz shirt here.“ Tandeem thinks: unlikely. Says: bring it. It was. A shirt I made 17 years ago in Portugal — my first production there. I still remember where the fabric came from, i made 50 pieces, a huge amount for me at the time. How it ended up in Saint Louis, found by my friend and now is in his shop , where he put a foto of us in front of my shop — that’s beyond me.
