This Time It Was Different - Fabric hunting with Raul Walch

Raul Walch, an artist and a friend, had been awarded a residency at the Villa Romana in Florence — one of the oldest and most prestigious artist residency programs in Germany, run by a foundation that has been sending artists to Florence since 1905.

Raul works a lot with textiles. Since I have been buying fabric in the area for years, I could share my sources with him. For days we went through the warehouses together — and some of the fabrics we found made it into his work.

Staying at the Villa Romana is something in itself: a beautiful garden, and the exchange with the other resident artists that comes with living and working in the same place.
